Peter Cockhill has been retained by Priestleys on a consultancy basis as a well-known investment funds lawyer with more than twenty years’ experience in international M & A, investment funds and corporate law. From 1998 until 2015, he worked at Ogier where he was the head of the global investment funds team, managing partner of the Cayman firm and served on the group’s management board as head of strategy. He has extensive experience in advising fund boards, managers and institutional investors on fund establishment, listings, restructuring, mergers and all stress-related matters such as conflicts, valuation issues, investor disputes, side letters, regulatory investigations and winding-up petitions. He also advises financial institutions and high net worth clients on establishing structures for managing assets and effecting international acquisitions.
Peter’s corporate practice includes advising on joint ventures, finance and business licensing and regulation for a multinational client base. He has spoken at numerous industry conferences and presentations in Boston, Cayman, Chicago, Hong Kong, London, New York, Paris and Toronto and has been consistently recognised as a leading financial services lawyer in The International Who’s Who of Private Funds Lawyers, the IFLR 1000, Legal 500, Plc, Which Lawyer and Chambers Global.
He is a member of the Cayman Islands Law Society and the Caymanian Bar Association.
